ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Peter McCoy is a world renowned applied mycology researcher and educator who has endeavored to understand and share the world of fungi with others for over 20 years. He is the author of Radical Mycology: A Treatise on Seeing and Working with Fungi, the founder of the mycology advocacy organization Radical Mycology, a co-founder of the Fungi Film Festival, and the founder and lead instructor at MYCOLOGOS, an applied mycology school and experimental fungi farm based in Portland, Oregon. Alongside his work with fungi, Peter can be often found making art or music, pondering mysteries, or wandering the great forests of the Pacific Northwest.

The lives of fungi are astonishing and baffling. It isn't always easy for those tempted to explore these remarkable worlds to find a way in. The Mycocultural Revolution—a rich hybrid of manifesto and manual, written by a myco-visionary and gifted educator—provides an elegant guide to the first steps.

–Merlin Sheldrake, biologist and author of Entangled Life

Thank you Peter McCoy for helping us navigate such a giant subject and for giving us the confidence to go deep! May many mushrooms flourish!

–Severine von Tscharner Fleming, founder of Greenhorns and editor of The New Farmer’s Almanac

The MycoCultural Revolution is upon us, and Peter McCoy’s new book contains the information and insporation to take part in it. Part handbook, part myco-manifesto, this book offers comprehensive grounding in the ecological, historical, social, and personal importance of fungi, reinforced with easily accessible instructions on foraging, cultivation, cooking, medicine making, and numerous other practical mycological skills. McCoy weaves useful information with thoughtful reflection on fungi’s many alluring qualities, incredible abilities, and endless potential as teachers and partners in the work of realizing a better world. True to the spirit of Radical Mycology, McCoy shows us how, by getting to know fungi and developing a working, reciprocal relationship with them, we can all find our place in connection with the wider webs of life, and grow communities of like-minded people who are tuning into the fungal frequency. If you’re getting curious about mushrooms and fungi, or interested in finding ways to deepen your relationship with them, this book is for you. Like a pirate radio station beckoning us into the forest, it’s an invitation to find the others, and ourselves, in communion with fungi.

—Doug Bierend, writer and author of In Search of Mycotopia
